Anonymous hacktivist, Matt DeHart, had created a repository on the Dark Web to store leaked government files. After coming across information that the CIA was responsible for the 2001 anthrax attacks, which was a psyop to fuel public terror and a means to build support for the Iraq war, Matt’s life was subject to what can be described as an elaborate and increasingly frightening ruse: raided and tortured by the FBI, hit with bogus child porn charges, and shuttled between prisons for nearly two years.

Reporter David Kushner originally reported on this story for Rolling Stone magazine, but for reasons unknown they got cold feet and this article was passed on to Buzzfeed.
